Charlie Beaulieu and Suzanne Altamare

In a strange doubles team of east and west, Charlie Beaulieu (west coast) and Suzanne Altamare (east coast) have joined forces to keep the World Championship of Sand Sculpting alive in it's new country, the USA.

Both have lived in the sand world for 29 going on 30 years. Both started as sand shovelers. Charlie met the legendary Joe Maize in Hawaii about the same time Suzanne met the legendary Marc Altamare in Daytona Beach, FL. Joe and Marc were their first exposure to sand sculpture.

Over the years they became sand sculptors themselves and now, basically three decades later, they are trying hard to preserve the contest passed on to Charlie by Bob Bell and John Green of Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia.

Joe Maize's memorial trophy and Marc Altamare's memorial trophy are still with the contest. Charlie and Suzanne want to better the treatment, recognition and compensation of the worlds' sand sculptors while making sure they can join together into the global family they are at least once a year. They are in it for the long haul.
